Happy Blogiversary to Me!

Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Voices Boomers program and have been provided with a device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.

Well, what do you know? Another year has flown by. On August 20, 2009, I launched the blog, and while I often mention that it was the day Green Grandma was born, looking back I think it was more of a day when my labor pains began. Oh yeah. I had no idea what I was getting into back then. Four years later, I'm still learning and still experiencing growing pains from time to time.

That's not to say I'm not loving this role in my life. Being Green Grandma has opened a lot of doors for me. I've met fabulous people, tested a whole slew of natural products, wrote a book about vinegar, been asked to speak, and, just this past June, I even had an all-expenses-paid trip to Chicago with the Verizon Voices Boomer program

When I started out, my hope was to be in that very small percentage of bloggers who were making a fortune blogging. But as time went by, my focus changed. It wasn't about money (although I do appreciate my sponsors and work very hard for every dime). It was about you. I grew to truly care about those of you in the GG community.

Of course, Facebook has been instrumental in that. That's where we really get to know each other, share our passions, our struggles, our disagreements, and our victories. We share baby news and prayer requests and support for each other. Before I started the GG FB page, this blog was just about me talking at you. And now, it's about talking to you, and with you. That has made all the difference in the world to me.

In the past four years, you have been with me through the birth of two grandchildren, the little Lord Lincoln and the marvelous little Miss Marley Grace, and the death of my beloved mom. You've rejoiced with me, and I'm sure, some of you have wept with me. You are a treasure to me, and that, my friends, is worth more than the exorbitant amounts of money bloggers like Perez Hilton is making.

Last, but not least, I can't write about the past four years without acknowledging the incredible support I've had from my husband and two of my beautiful daughters. Without them, I never would have been able to come this far. Thank you, Bill, Bethany and Jessica. You are everything to me.

Unlike the last two anniversaries, I'm not celebrating with huge giveaways. Instead, I'm holding a quiet celebration. Maybe there will be cake. I wish I could share it with each and every one of you. But since I can't, I'll just light a candle and as I blow it out, I'll send up a silent prayer for all of you in the GG community. It will be a prayer of thanksgiving.

In gratitude and celebration,
